MEET THE ARTIST :
Jewelry Designer Anne Turrell-Nevada and her husband "Reno", own and operate
Heritage Hill Farm, a small Hanoverian breeding facility in Central Ohio. Anne rode "cantankerous" ponies as a child, moved to Hunt Seat, and later in life, now rides Dressage.
"Reno", an Attorney by day, also rides Hunters.
Together, they treasure the births of their Hanoverian foals. Anne's workshop and "R & D" area overlooks the foal pasture, where she is inspired (and mildy horrified) by the exuberant play of youngsters. " We ride horses, we understand horses, and we understand your love for horses. "
Anne has managed USDF Dressage and Sport Horse Breed Shows, and serves as a Cross Country Fence Judge for the International Kentucky ROLEX CCI 3 Day Event. Anne is honored to have also been selected as a Cross Country Judge for the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky !
As a rider and breeder, Anne wanted a tangible way to reflect the horse's natural beauty and grace and to share that beauty with horse lovers of all disciplines. Says Anne, " Nothing is so beautiful as a foal's first, joyful gallop through a spring pasture; and, nothing so satisfying as helping a youngster grow into a willing partner. Being close to horses links us to an ancient, romantic past and moves us steadily to a promising future."
Anne's work has been displayed at the Kentucky Horse Park, during the International ROLEX CCI 3-Day Event, and with a nationally known Tack Store.
Prior experience operating a Commerical Stained Glass studio, and earlier studies in Sterling Jewelry fabrication, prepared Anne to move forward with Equestrian Jewelry Design.
Anne's own handcrafted, 99.9 % Pure Silver pieces are grouped in the "Silver Silhouettes" Collection. Pure Silver, also known as Fine Silver, is a higher quality than Sterling, with the warm glow of family heirlooms from another century.
While Silver Silhouette jewelry has the look of fine heirloom silver, the raw material used is completely 21st Century " Green" and "Eco-Friendly" !
Anne "sculpts" and molds each piece from a Japanese material known as Precious Metal Clay (PMC), containing Pure Silver RECLAIMED from the by-products of technology.
A member of the PMC Guild, Anne has recently participated in a PMC Teacher's Certification course taught by world recognized jewelry and metals artist, Tim McCreight.
A patented Japanese process RECOVERS microscopic particles of PURE SILVER from obsolete medical, computer, and photographic equipment. Any impurities are removed, and thousands of the particles are embedded in a soft, non toxic material, much like clay. The particles are of the highest possible grade of silver, without the copper and other base metals added to "Sterling". As precious metals can be reprocessed repeatedly with no loss in quality, the recovery method taps a truly renewable resource BEFORE the old equipment hits a landfill.
The impressionable material offers the jewelry artist great flexibility to mold, cast, carve or sculpt unique, highly detailed pieces. When fired in a hot kiln at nearly 1700 degrees Fahrenheit, the soft binder material is incinerated, while the silver particles fuse together, leaving behind a solid, 99.9% pure silver work of art. The resulting silver jewelry is of the highest quality available, AND is ecologically sustainable.
Each piece meets the Federal Trade Commission guidelines for 99.9% Fine Silver, and the back of each piece is authenticated with a hallmark stamp: " Heritage Hill .999 Fine Silver" .
Not quite Alchemy, but darn close !
Anne's Pure Silver pieces are substantial, made one at a time, with the unique variations of handcrafted items.
Her designs are ever evolving and, yet, as timeless as the gaze of a loyal horse. Anne says: " I live with a design, and keep modifying , until I want to keep it for myself ! I hope that you will find a special piece in our collection, that speaks to YOU - one that celebrates a milestone; recalls a very special horse; or one just for fun !"
Please wear and enjoy these beautiful items with the knowledge that you are also addressing global waste and reducing your own "footprint". Win, win !
